Early Childhood Inclusive Practices Reflection Tool
The Early Childhood Inclusive Practices Reflection
Tool (IPRT) has been created to help schools assess where and
how their students ages 3-5 are educated. There are 15 items to
help districts examine practices and supports, in conjunction with
the Early Learning Standards, for educating the early childhood
students who reside in their district. The tool is completed
online which results in high reliability and quick turnaround of a
report with a tally of all the responses from a school. This tally
is used to develop a plan for improving the outcomes and transition
for early childhood students with disabilities in typical preschool
and general education settings.
As with the IPRT, each item from the Early Childhood IPRT
correlates to one of the following targets for building a system
with the capacity to educate all students in general education
classrooms and typical preschool settings:
Target 1: All students are members of the general education
community.
Target 2: All students have access to and are supported by all
of the school's resources.
Target 3: The school addresses social and emotional skill
development as a key part of academic outcomes.
Target 4: The school develops and uses data systems for decision
making and problem solving.
Target 5: The school makes concentrated and ongoing efforts to
involve family members and other community members.
Target 6: The school/district is committed to system change and
developing an effective education system for all.
