collaborative school. Participants will learn about different co-teaching
arrangements to help students access general education curriculum and achieve
higher standards. There will be a focus on getting started in co-teaching,
enhancing beginning relationships and using the different approaches to
co-teaching. The PM session will have a panel of experienced co-teachers
from the Middle and High school levels. Teachers will share some of the
strategies they use to plan and deliver instruction. Participants will have an
opportunity to hear how co-teachers solved problems and developed collaborative
relationships. Come with your teaching partner to make the most of this
experience!

Joyful Learning: Active & Collaborative Strategies
for Differentiation — Alice Udvari-Solner
By design inclusive classrooms are comprised of students who differ greatly in
their learning abilities and needs. It only follows that the techniques of
teaching be as varied as those learners. This session will introduce a variety
of active strategies that can be used across grade levels and subject areas.
Participants will have the opportunity to apply these techniques to their own
instructional context and consider specific students in implementation. Leave
with a wealth of ideas that energize, revitalize and create access to learning
for diverse students

Transition-Rich IEPs — Age Appropriate Transition
Assessment Sue Walters, Transition Consultant, ISBE
This session will examine issues related to the IDEA 2004 requirement for
age-appropriate transition assessments and the impact on developing
transition-rich IEPs and improving outcomes for students. Participants will
learn about the definition and "landscape" of transition assessment; how to
access a range of assessment tools, both formal and informal; how to properly
document the use of transition assessments in the IEP and how to use assessment
results to assist students in discovering their strengths and interests and
guide the development of post-school goals.

Transition Rich IEPs — Measurable Post-School Goals
Take the Lead — Sue Walter, Transition Consultant, Illinois State Board
of Education
The core of a transition-rich IEP lies in a commitment to individual student
strengths, preferences, interests and needs. Transition-rich IEPs create
synergy among IEP team members and improve outcomes for students with
disabilities by merging "compliance" with "best practice." This session will
focus on the nuts and bolts of transition-rich IEPs, measurable post-school
goals, transition services, completion of program and more. Some guided
practice in developing measurable post-school goals and other transition plan
components will be included. Participants will explore tools that can support
their roles and will also explore effective transition practices and Indicator
13 resources.
